4 tablespoons butter, in chunks
1-2 garlic clove, peeled
1 loaf Italian bread

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In small skillet, partially melt butter over medium heat.
2. Using a garlic press, crush garlic clove into small dish and add to partially melted butter. Melt butter completely and transfer to measuring cup with spout.
3. Cut Italian bread deeply at 1 1/2-inch intervals, leaving each slice attached. Pour some of garlic butter into each cut; wrap loaf in aluminum foil. Bake 10 minutes.
You can, of course, simply soften the butter, stir in the garlic, and spread a bit of the mixture between each slice, if you prefer. If the oven is already on at a different temperature, add the bread and increase or decrease the heating time accordingly.
