1 1/4 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
4 hamburger buns


1. In medium bowl combine ground beef, chopped onion, parsley, salt and pepper; form into 4 patties.
2. In large heavy skillet heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Saut´┐Ż burgers until lightly browned on both sides and cooked through--5 or 6 minutes on each side. Remove and keep warm. Add sliced onion to skillet; cook, stirring occasionally, 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly browned.
3. To serve, place burgers on buns and top with onions.

Use a cast-iron skillet to give the burgers that almost-grilled flavor and texture.
