1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 center-cut loin pork chops (about 8 ounces each)
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 large Golden Delicious apples, unpeeled, thinly sliced

1. In large heavy skillet heat oil. Add chops and cook 6 minutes. Turn, sprinkle with marjoram, salt and pepper and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer, depending upon thickness, until cooked through. Remove to a serving platter and keep warm.
2. Add apples to skillet; cover and cook 3 to 5 minutes, checking and stirring occasionally until they are lightly browned and crisp-tender. Spoon apples over chops and serve.
Because pork is much leaner than it used to be it is important to cook chops long enough to be safely done but not so long that they are dry. At the end of the cooking time make a small cut in the center of one chop to see that it is done.
